Even children of the youngest ages oriented to the world of technological advances couldn’t get enough of their Xbox games as they argue over with their parents just to have one more hour of extended play; how much more for the older ones? ABC news displays a reliable research saying “more and more young people are becoming sleep-deprived” just because of little techie devices. The article featured Gabby Gomez, a 19 year old workaholic college student from California Lutheran University and also works in Thousand Oaks full-time and full-time at a public relations firm. She confessed how sleep becomes no less than a basic need in her world conquered by electronics and latest tech advances and openly admits that she is a BlackBerry addict.
Though in Gomez’s case, these gadgets help her work wise, other more young and busy students are becoming insomniac day by day in a more negative sense just because of their obsession over certain mobile applications, over online games, social networking arenas, and other matters aside from work and total communication necessity. Kim Carollo, the article author also shared a video with points out and concludes how this technology caused sleep deprivation can be very seriously detrimental to every body’s health.

In a journalist’s or a writer’s view, writing has been long defined as the passion to live and the drive of inspiration these people take from day to day; writing about anything under the sun is like a task never requiring anything in return but to afford to have those readers and viewers we’ve always wanted, receiving feed backs from them is just but a plus as always. Since the birth of the online community and innovations, journalism has also paved its way right that very instance the world wide web has to grow, having this been said, writers of diversity has all considered this a very good start.
Blogging was the term brought up to describe journalism activities on the web, it was definitely open to all, at first only as a hobby, only as a medium for self expression yet human beings has also been said to be wise… they slowly turned words into dollars. Blogging was made commercialized and now, we see the aftermath of this resulting to some authorities requiring a logical license for the money earned in blogging. Although this was a locally inspired news set in New York, it is but still relevant to expect this potential law to be applied in any city we may want to start this “blogging business”.

Imagine that you are stranded in a two acre island, and that it only supports 2 kinds of plant vegetation, one is the coconut tree and the other is a Dune Marsh-elder shrub. The objective is to get out of the island before the tide comes in. In your pocket are three plastic cards, a pack of gum, and a bottle of Valium(Don’t ask me how it got there), what would you do? Sure, you can do the McGyver stuff and think your way out of it but don’t get ahead of me here because there is a twist. The twist is you find a phone washed ashore after a day of playing Tom Hanks, it’s too much to expect that the phone would be encased in a water proof plastic but hey that is not so impossible. I might be one of the passengers that didn’t return to “the Island” and that phone might have been mine. so the Question is, “What brand of phone would you wish for that phone to be?
Personally, I would choose an Apple iPhone. Let’s say, the latest which is the iPhone 4 or the iPhone 3GS. Everybody knows that the battery life of every phone really varies from usage. But it sure is comforting to know that Apple’s lithium-ion battery standby time is up to 300 hours. That is compared to taking it easy for more than a week. Just think of all the soul searching hours that you can invest for the future. You may also chat up your would be rescuers because talk time is up to 10 hours on 2G, 6 hours on 3G. The choice is also open if you want to enjoy audio playback for up to 40 hours or up to 10 hours of video playback.Hey, if all comes to worse and it doesn’t work out you have all the time to use the stuff you had in your pocket or make a bonfire of the phone, it would give off black smoke and you can alert civilization Bear Grills’ style.

Lance Armstrong has been a sounding name when it comes to sports, specifically, on biking; he was even commended for his passion for this particular sport despite being on the bait of battling against testicular cancer. It has just been an ordinary news to hear that he has joined and won another race on any cycling track on the planet. He has already gained a lot of recognitions and has inspired too many to fill a football court arena.
Way back 1993, he made miles and miles of races and made it to the records as he completed 7 championships which is a record still, unbeatable at the moment. Tour de France is yet a sentimental race he forever considers, it was the particular annual league where he garnered his 7 time recognition. Armstrong we could say is the finest on his craft as for his true dedication and advocacy aside from all the fame and money with it. It was a saddening news that he finally decided to end his racing career on this 2010 edition of Tour de France which was said to start July 3 ending on Paris in July 25, 2010.

Just as the way Tom Van Howe opens his review on Michigan’s oil spills, let me just share some locally encountered problems regarding this widely encountered problems on the management of energy fuel houses. As any other top grossing countries, Philippines also share its own various companies providing fuel to consumers but sadly, it also shares a lot of massive and minor problems on the management of these. There was an incident of oil spill in the shores of a local town in Visayas containing one of the pipes connecting sources to outputs of a certain oil producing company… an oil leak in an urban apartment that almost killed all the residents, a land dispute over a coal rich site in a far flung province. So much to talk about but today’s issue circles on the desire of companies to seek more sources in order to cope up with the demands of the consumers.
The bottom line is, though we see a lot of flaws from these companies, we as users also have our core responsibility of balancing nature’s resources. Sometimes we tend to abuse energy giving devices that for our own benefits, makes our lives easier; these energy corporations already made steps and guidelines on how to maximize what we have, from saving fuels by walking or turning off lights when not in use. Just simple things that we already know but seldom practice… see these companies face their own problems in storing fuel for us, why give the burden of making a shortage and forcing these people to drill places just to provide for us?
