Apple acknowledges that their first attempt to bring TVs on the table was not very successful so now, with the unveiling of the second Apple TV, Apple CEO Steve Jobs assures the public that the Apple TV maybe smaller but better. Jobs said Apple has learned a lot about what happened with the first TV and they have taken that lesson to heart. Apple is now more aware of what the consumer wants. People want their TV shows and movies as well but they don’t like managing hard drives and the added nuisance of syncing their movies with their computers. Of coarse, enjoying your favorite shows and movies is better when you are viewing them in clear high definition. And the best part in the whole deal is… the tag price, people want affordable prices and the new Apple TV delivers- it’s $99.
The new Apple TV has a sleek and compact design and check this out- no whirring sound. Its certainly amazing to think that there is a lot going on inside the tiny TV considering that it is almost one-fourth the size of the previous version. Regarding the storage problem in the first Apple TV, rentals is the solution of Apple. The $0.99 rentals are pushed through and studios like Fox and ABC will be providing viewers with their favorite shows. HD is also on board and will be renting shows for $4.99. Features included are Netflix live streaming, Youtube access, podcasts plus photo streaming.
Compared to Google’s dream for a new breed of TVs, Apple TV is tame but the thing is it corresponds to the development of the TV evolution. Google is trying to come up with a TV that has DVR functions, searching capabilities, and apps services. Some say this is too ambitious since cable companies are fighting tooth and nails to stay on top. Hey, but who knows Google might surprise us, it certainly won’t be the first time.
